Dear Supporter of Women's Colleges,
Summer's hazy glow has transformed into the vibrant colors of autumn, reminding us of students' return to college campuses and the role of The Sunflower Initiative in assisting young women who have chosen women's colleges. Our latest Harriet Fitzgerald Scholarship recipient is Marley Forest of Bend, Oregon, who has matriculated at Wellesley.
Marley is the third Harriet Fitzgerald Scholarship recipient; the first two are Aastha Sharma from Nepal and Chelsea Osademe of Arkansas who attend Wesleyan in Macon, GA and Spelman in Atlanta, respectively. This year, TSI has joined the social network Facebook which we hope you will visit and "like." It will keep you up-to-date on our scholarships and other news concerning women's education. Moreover, we continue to explore affiliations with alumnae of women's colleges that have gone co-ed. Believing that women's colleges still offer many young women unique opportunities for scholarship, leadership, and community, alumnae of Peace, Chatham and Wilson Colleges are interested in our efforts.
Of course, none of these strides is possible without the assistance of people like you. We hope that you will join us in supporting young women who choose women's colleges. In October, TSI's application process began for young women matriculating as freshmen in 2015-16; in that year - we are astounded and proud to say - TSI will be supporting four $10,000 scholarships.
